Brandt inducted into Senior Illinoisans Hall of Fame
Illinois Agri-Woman member Evelyn Brandt Thomas was recently inducted into the Senior Illinoisans Hall of Fame. Evelyn, a long time member of IAW, started Brandt Fertilizer, now Brandt Consolidated with her brother in 1953. She has been a mentor for women in agriculture-related endeavors since that day.
In addition to sponsorship of Women Changing the Face of Agriculture, Evelyn established a scholarship program in Annie’s Project for farm women who could not afford the classes. In 2011, IAW awarded Evelyn the Outstanding Illinois Agri-Woman award at the State Fair. This award recognizes a woman who works for agribusiness who has exhibited high standards of service excellence and exceptional leadership in her job. In 2015, Evelyn was honored by the Illinois Department of Agriculture being named Illinois State Ag Ambassador with her brother.
